The Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa Phoenix-Johannesburg received a Covid-19 proposal from West Rand
Association for Persons with Disability (WRAPD) which was supported by the Gauteng Provincial Association for Persons with Disabilities. The proposal outlined the challenging circumstances faced by these associations and their beneficiaries. During this difficult time families of these beneficiaries are unable to provide support due to lack of income hence the desperate need of food and hygiene products.
The Johannesburg Centre provided the WRAPD, which caters for 31 multi-challenged individuals, with the following:
Vegetables : 112kg potates, 22kg sweet potatoe, 20kg gem squash, 20kg butternut, 10kg Onions, 5kg carrots and several cabbages.
Groceries : 36kg rice, 20kg maize meal, 20kg cake flour, 20kg porridge, 12kg beans, 10 litre oil, milk, tea, noodles and soup
Hygiene products : 31 masks, 2.4 litres hand sanitiser, 10 litres all-purpose cleaner, 60 soaps, lotions
COVID 19 Posters : Health awareness posters on precautionary measures for the prevention of COVID-19 infection were provided.
In addition the WRAPD also supports children with disabilities. Six comprehenive hampers were provided to these children.
